Sales Engineer

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for planning, directing and conducting sales activities and managing all pre and post sales support activities in Southwest United States.
Generates new business and ensures growth of existing accounts. Assesses potential application of company products or services and offers solutions that meet customer needs. Researches and presents reports showing potential customers the cost benefit of purchasing company products or services. Provides technical training to clients and communicates customer feedback for future product developments. Uses technical knowledge of product offerings to support and build sales.

Education/Experience:

B. S. Degree in Mining, Engineering, or related field with an MBA or advanced degree. Two or more years or experience in the mining/minerals processing industry.

  • The Sales Engineer must be self-directed and have an entrepreneurial attitude with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • This position requires solid multi-tasking abilities and excellent written and communication skills
  • Must have the ability to present to customers, clients, stakeholders at all levels of organization
  • Must be able to focus selling message on value add and needs of the customer, and as such, have the proven ability to construct financial models that demonstrate the quantifiable business results that the end customer can achieve with the company’s technology and services
  • Must have excellent negotiation skills and the ability to close a deal
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions and exercise good judgment relative to minimizing risk and maximizing return
  • Must be driven to increase and sustain customer satisfaction to a ‘best in class’ status

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the North American Area Sales Manager and CDRA Product Management to develop and manages sales growth strategies and goals for products including price, programs, distribution channels and promotion
  • Manages and develops indirect sales channel activities, performance and compliance to agreement responsibilities, terms and conditions, in addition to stated sales methods and service work methods
  • Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors
  • Creates training and development programs for channel partner sales personnel with support from CiDRA, Wallingford personnel
  • Filters opportunities to ensure alignment with corporate objectives, price and profitability
  • Grows new customers and sales opportunities, initiating tactics to advance and procure new business for the company
  • Writes white papers to be included in industry trade journals, creates case studies related to the application technology as sales tools and can present technical papers at conferences
  • Utilizes Salesforce opportunities and pipeline report to provide monthly and annual sales forecasts
  • Works together with CiDRA Wallingford Service and Technical Support Managers to support accounts in need
  • Works with internal and external stakeholders regarding accreditation / HSE, compliance, customer policies and other site requirements
  • Works with sales, channel partners and finance to ensure that there is adequate inventory of spare parts, tools, and MRO items to support installed base and service contracts
  • Creates and manages a pipeline of opportunities in Salesforce CRM to achieve sales KPIs and revenue goals
  • Accountability & Performance Measures:

    • HSE: Zero safety, asset and environmental incidents
    • 95%+ customer satisfaction
    • Quote closure of a least 40%
    • Increase in number of mine sites (breadth)
    • Increase in contacts (depth and breadth)
    • Number of visits to target clients
    • Achieve or exceed revenue and gross margin goals
    • Tracks and manages channel partner performance in key areas indicated on the monthly channel partner performance report
    • Tracks response time from call inception to delivery of service through case closure
    • Organizational Alignment:

      • Follows and promotes company policies
      • Reports to the North American Sales Manager
      • Regularly interacts with Marketing and Communications, Product Marketing Management, Global Sales and Service Specialist, Client Services, Tech Support, Service
      • Interacts with Finance and Legal for support as required
      • Works with and provides project management and product management feedback on features and functionality of existing products under development
      • Provides management reports regarding key issues that may impact customer satisfaction, revenue and future customer opportunities
      • Other:

        • Position ideally is to be based out of Arizona
        • Travel required. Must have a flexible attitude and be willing/able to travel at any given time should the situation require
        • Ability to lift and carry up 40 pounds; not adverse to heights; i.e., ladders, platforms, lifts
        • Must have valid passport and driver’s license
        • Competitive base salary with commission based on achieving sales goals
